In this article, we’re going to look at some of these rumors concerning specifications and features of the next Samsung flagship. After the success of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge earlier this year, all the consumers have placed their expectations higher for the Galaxy S8. After the unfortunate Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung is aware that they don’t have the right to errors this time.

There will most probably be both version of the Galaxy S8. A smaller-sized version and like usual a larger “Edge” version. Rumors announce a new exciting design with a big high screen-to-body ratio. Indeed, the S8 and S8 Edge might come with a near “full-screen”. Some rumors announce a screen-to-body ratio of over 90%. It would be a drastic bezel reduction similar to what Xiaomi and Sharp have made with their Mi MIX and Aquos phones.

With a near “full-screen”, S8 and S8 Edge wouldn’t have hardware home and capacitive buttons. Samsung should replace the buttons at the bottoms for a better option. With no hardware home button, Samsung might employ an optical fingerprint scanner directly embedded in the display of these flagships ! The Qualcomm’s Sense ID fingerprint sensor could answer to this need.

After Apple have removed the headphone jack from its iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, there is a question about the future of the headphone jack on the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge. But, a lot of rumors indicate that Samsung will continue in 2017 with the 3.5mm audio jack on the S8 and S8 Edge.

On the display side, the S8 should have a 5.1” screen and the S8 Edge a 5.5” screen. However, some rumors told the Samsung might supersize the regular Galaxy S8’s display all the way up to 5.5 inches and the S8 Edge to 6.2” in order to compensate the vacuum left by the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. It’s also said that both displays will be curved always in order to compensate the vacuum …

On the resolution side, Galaxy S8 should feature a 4K UHD display with the sky-high resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels ! It would make the Galaxy S8 and S8 Edges the phones with the sharpest displays ever and an awesome pixel density. There would be ideal candidates for experiencing VR in the better conditions possible. Obviously, both versions will have a Super AMOLED display type.

For the hardware, rumors put a Snapdragon 830 inside both versions. Like usual, the International version should have the last Exynos chipset version. Both chipsets will use a 10nm manufacturing process which should improve performance and power efficiency. Some announce 8GB of RAM inside the S8 and S8 Edge. This rumor is confirmed by the fact that Samsung has recently announced 8GB RAM chips. On the storage side, it should start a 32 GB of native storage. We hope that Samsung will continue with the microSD card slot, re-introduced with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Some rumors from China indicate that the Galaxy S8 will be sporting a dual camera at its back, which would pave the way for lossless optical zoom and some other great camera-centric features. It’s logical to think that Samsung will be a step in this direction because iPhone 7 and 7 plus have dual cameras. Some expect a 13MP Sony-made sensor to the back of the S8 and S8 Edge. In all the cases, a 8MP front-facing camera should help you to make awesome selfies.

On the software side, Samsung will integrate its Iris Scanner that was embedded in Galaxy Note 7. As the new flagship of Samsung, you can be sure that the Galaxy S8 will feature all the latest biometrics security inside. Recently, some info have announced that Samsung worked on a smart AI Assistant to avoid to be distanced by Google Assistants, Cortana or Siri in this domain. This AI Assistant will be integrated in the Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge.

If you have read this article entirely, you understood that Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge are much anticipated with a lot of rumors around them. This is also a good way used by Samsung to increase the expectations of consumers before the announcement probably in the end of February during MWC 2017 at Barcelona. No information have filtered about prices but you can imagine a price around $649 for the S8 and $749 for the S8 Edge.
